Quite simply, water is the essence of the Mackay region, Queensland. From mountain-top waterfalls in tropical rainforests, to the calm ocean waters of secluded beaches. So what better way to explore 'life on the water' than escaping to the secluded tropical island of Keswick Island - a short 12 minute flight or a quick boat trip from Mackay

Located within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, Keswick Island boasts pristine aquamarine waters, perfect for your favourite water adventure! Enjoy kayaking, fishing, snorkelling, diving or even a simple, scenic swim in the warm tropical waters.

See colourful coral reefs and unique marine life abound in the crystal clear ocean. Snorkel with tropical fish, the elusive dugong and friendly flatback and green turtles. If you're lucky, you may even see a pod of humpback whales pass through the Island's Egremont Passage during their annual migration from July to September.

The beauty of Keswick Island is that many of its marine treasures are located in shallow waters just minutes from the shore, making them some of the most accessible marine sites in the region.

For the more adventurous, Singapore Bay offers a snorkel and dive site with a difference. Named after the ill-fated Singapore steamer, which sank en-route from Sydney to Hong Kong in 1877, the 87-metre, 964-tonne vessel lies at a depth of some 27 metres and has developed its own unique marine environment which just begs to be explored. Underwater explorers can expect to see large pelagic fish, mantarays, whales, nurse sharks and many other colourful tropical species.

Whether you are a seasoned diver or are looking to make your first foray underwater, Keswick Island offers a range of diving experiences to suit all levels. Dive courses can be completed on the island or before you arrive to make the most of your holiday.

Accommodation options range from the fully catered Keswick Island Guest House to self-catering holiday housesor Keswick Island Cabins. Private moorings for boats are also available and a new jetty ensures easy access to the island.
