Events Calendar the Perfect Excuse for a Holiday

Mackay Tourism is thrilled to launch a new marketing campaign that aims to encourage visitation through the region’s events calendar.

From today, Mackay Tourism will commence digital and social media marketing that showcases a variety of upcoming events, each of whom celebrate The Mackay Region.

Exhibited events include the St Lawrence Wetlands Weekend, Mackay Festival of Arts, Clermont Gold and Coal Festival, Grasstree Beach Motorcycle Races and Global Grooves.

General Manager of Mackay Tourism, Tas Webber, explained what made these events a must-do experience for visitors.

“Through the support of Mackay and Isaac Regional Councils, Tourism and Events Queensland and our passionate locals, The Mackay Region enjoys a stellar line-up of events throughout the year,” he said.

Mr Webber continued, “this campaign is about encouraging people to not only attend these spectacular events, but increase their length of stay to explore more of what The Mackay Region has to offer.”

Mayor Greg Williamson said council was proud to be able to produce exciting events like Mackay Festival of Arts and Global Grooves.

“In 2018, the Mackay Festival of Arts welcomed more than 50,000 attendees to 10 days of events,” Cr Williamson said

“In 2019, the focus is firmly set on encouraging locals to support the events, as well as enticing visitors to come to Mackay in July to enjoy the Festival and the fringe events that run all month,” he said.

“It’s a great festival for travelling families, because there are so many drawcard events that have free entry and entertainment – the G&S Engineering Wine and Food Day, DBCT Illuminate and the Loose Ends stage show to name just a few.”

Details on upcoming events and accompanying deals are available on The Mackay Region website at www.mackayregion.com/deals.
