National Parks

The Mackay Isaac Region is home to some of Queensland’s most spectacular and diverse national parks—where ancient volcanic peaks, misty rainforests, rugged escarpments and coastal headlands all converge in one unforgettable landscape.

Whether you’re hiking to a panoramic lookout, spotting a platypus in the wild, or waking up to a wallaby-strewn sunrise, our parks offer the kind of connection to nature you can’t find just anywhere.

This page highlights the region’s most iconic protected areas and helps you plan your journey into wild places that feel a world away—yet are never far from town.
