It’s official – Cape Hillsborough #1 spot to wake up

While Mackay locals are already aware of how amazing sunrise at Cape Hillsborough can be, it appears the secret is out to travellers from all over the world.

The social media account for Tourism Australia (Australia.com) has shared a new list of 19 spots that are must-see locations in Australia, as written by Buzz Feed, with Cape Hillsborough sitting right up the top at #1 spot as ‘The World’s Best Place to Wake-Up’.

The social media post has already had over 17,500 likes and 3,000 shares.

Mackay Tourism General Manager, Tas Webber, said visitors are starting to recognise that Cape Hillsborough and Mackay has a world-class experience on its doorstep and it has become a ‘bucket-list experience’ for domestic and international tourists.

“This is now being seen as an iconic Australian experience, alongside some of the most incredible tourist attractions in Australia,” Mr Webber said.

“The popularity of the experience at Cape Hillsborough has led to a growth in visitor numbers for the entire Mackay Region, and we are well and truly ready to capatilise on this growth.”
