Description

The Clermont Historical Centre celebrates the rich and diverse heritage of Clermont, Copperfield, and Blair Athol, with an emphasis on settler, mining, and agricultural histories.

The extensive collection of artefacts has been contributed by local families and businesses in the region. Displays include:
- Aveling and Porter No 6803 steam engine which was used to shift the town after the 1916 flood
- Clermont Fire Brigade truck
- Jacques Diesel Powered Shovel and Ruston Steam Shovel used at the Blair Athol Mine
- Glenmore Shearing Shed, Cosmans Livery, Chiconi Stables, and the Peak Downs Masonic Lodge.

The Faces of the Peak Downs exhibition showcases the remarkable stories of early settlers and local personalities through the region's history. One such icon is Rose Harris, a professional saddler, talented athlete (golf, tennis, swimming, boxing), skilled musician, and hero, credited with saving five lives during the horrific 1916 flood.

The Back on Track exhibition celebrates the long history of country racing in Clermont and the surrounding areas, and features photographs, saddles, silks, and a variety of racing ephemera.

Clermont Historical Centre is located on the Gregory Highway approximately 2km from the town of Clermont, and there is parking available onsite.
