Competition calls for creativity

They’ve got the prizes, now they need your entries.

Mackay Tourism has launched a multimedia competition where you can win by sharing your favourite #mymackay experience – in any way you choose.

Mackay Tourism general manager Tas Webber said that #mymackay is about sharing the places, experiences and events that make our region a great place to live, work and play.

“From fishing on the beach to discovering a cool new café to relaxing at the city library – we all have different reasons why this is #mymackay.”

“And because there is so much variety in what our region has to offer, we decided to have a competition where entrants could pick how they entered.”

“If you prefer writing a poem or review, creating a piece of craft or a sketch, getting a great photo or video – however people want to enter, they can – and they all have the chance to win.”

Judging the competition is Chrissy Evangelou (Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce), Greg Williamson (Mackay Regional Council), Rob Porter (Mackay Airport) and Sharmin Messer (The Hungry Travellers).

“We’re all excited to see what entrants come up with, with the best entries going on to be showcased at the Mackay Airport Beach Horse Races on August 19.”

Winners of the competition will also be showcased at the event, and presented with their prizes.

“Our overall winner will win a weekend away for six people at the stunning Keswick Island, including accommodation, flights and groceries.”

“The runners up prizes are also great Mackay region experiences – a high tea for six at the Old Station Teahouse and a rainforest platypus dive for two.”

The competition is open to anyone in the Mackay and Isaac regions, and full terms and conditions can be found on Mackay Tourism’s website.

Entries close July 31 and can be submitted online at www.mackayregion.com/mymackay or through the Mackay Visitor Information Centre on Nebo Road.
