Creek to Coast Hooked on Mackay

The Mackay Region’s credentials as Australia’s premier fishing destination will be showcased across the country as the hugely popular fishing and lifestyle program Creek to Coast fishes the region’s waterways.

Airing on Saturday afternoon at 5:30pm on Channel 7 Queensland, and again on 7Mate nationally at midnight on Monday and Tuesday at 7.30am, Creek to Coast will feature host Scotty Hillier fishing with Jason Kidd from Inshore Fishing Mackay.

Mr Kidd explained how The Mackay Region’s incredible fishing assets are sure to inspire the fishing enthusiast Creek to Coast viewers.

“Inshore Fishing Mackay hosted Scotty Hillier fishing during February,” he said.

One of the attributes of fishing in our region is the remarkable variety of species on offer. Even after the heavy downpour of rain received the previous week, we still caught excellent sized fingermark, barramundi and even a mud crab,” Mr Kidd said.

“Mackay’s sheer quantity and quality of fishing destinations and species means no matter the conditions, there’s always a choice of fishing strategies available to the angler. Add into all of this, is Seaforth’s net free zone, which continually produces top quality fishing and is a true asset and drawcard to our region,” explained Mr Kidd.

Chief Executive Officer Tas Webber detailed how programs like Creek to Coast were vital to growing fishing tourism for the region.

“Fishing is one of the most popular activities for travellers to The Mackay Region, in particular amongst the empty nesters who this time of year will be starting to plan their next adventure north,” he stated.

“Through our partnership with Mackay Regional Council, local stocking and fishing associations and other stakeholders, The Hooked on Mackay brand has developed into a major drawcard for attracting fishing tourism,” Mr Webber added.

“I’m sure the Mackay community will be proud to see their region being fished by the popular Creek to Coast show, and we are looking forward to welcoming guests looking to experience what makes our region Australia’s premier fishing destination,” he said.
