Last chance for idyllic island escape

Your chance to win the ultimate island escape is about to slip away like an ebbing tide from a sandy beach.

The escape in question is to Keswick – an island wonderland of pristine bays and beaches, mind-blowing diving and fishing, and amazing natural diversity.

In fact, Keswick Island and its surrounds are home to everything from humpback whales to vibrant blue butterflies, and a pure strain of Caucasian bees bred in isolation.

Mackay Tourism wants you to experience this picturesque paradise and its wonders for yourself, with five of your mates – for free!

To be in the running, all you have to do is get your #mymackay entry in by 5pm, Monday, July 31.

Cr Amanda Camm from Mackay Regional Council, a major sponsor of Mackay Tourism, said that the competition was helping to capitalise on the recent increase in tourism, and that staying at Keswick was an opportunity not to be missed.

“This is the trip of a lifetime,” Ms Camm said.

“Not only does the prize includes flights out to the island, you and five friends will then get to stay at the Keswick Island Beach House – and there’s even a $300 Woolies voucher to stock the fridge,” she said.

“The Beach House is remarkable – it has the kind of views from its private decks that money can’t buy.

“It also comes with a golf buggy, paddleboards and sea kayak.  It’s the ultimate base to explore the island from.”

And, if you miss out on the major prize, the runner up offerings aren’t too shabby either.

“How does high tea for six surrounded by the ambience of the Old Station Teahouse or maybe a Rainforest Scuba platypus dive for two sound?”

Mackay Tourism General Manager Tas Webber said that to win any of these three prizes you need to get in quickly, but the good news is that entering is easy and fun.

“Tell us what you love about Mackay in a way that suits you – through video, photo, art, craft or writing,” Mr Webber said.

“It’s what #mymackay means to you, anything from sharing a sunset walk with your Labrador on the beach to scuba diving through one of Keswick Island’s sunken wrecks.

“We’ve already had some sensational entries and I can’t wait to see what comes in before the deadline.”

The competition is open to anyone in the Mackay and Isaac regions, and full terms and conditions can be found on Mackay Tourism’s website.

Entries can be submitted online at www.mackayregion.com/mymackay or through the Mackay Visitor Information Centre on Nebo Road.
