Mackay welcomes visitors to celebrate Australia Day

Accommodation providers, venues and the local Mackay community are preparing to welcome visitors to the region over the last weekend of January to celebrate all things green and gold.

Mackay Regional Council has proudly supported ten Aussie-themed community events for Australia Day.

The events will be held at various times throughout the day and at ten different locations across the region including Mackay, Northern Beaches, Harbour Beach, Seaforth, Habana, Pioneer Valley, Sarina and more.

Venues across Mackay are also gearing up for Australia Day parties, including Dolphin Heads Resort who will celebrate with a barbecue by the pool, DJs, JJJ Hottest 100 countdown and cold drinks at the bar.

Meanwhile The Shores Holiday Apartments at Blacks Beach are offering some fantastic deals for visitors who are in Mackay over the weekend of Australia Day.

Kerryn Beck, who manages The Shores, said spending time on the beach and enjoying the beauty of Australia’s coastline would be a great way to celebrate Australia Day.

“You can book two nights here at The Shores at Blacks Beach between the 25th and 28th of January and get the third night free. Just call 49549 444 and mention this deal,” Ms Beck said.

General Manager of Mackay Tourism, Tas Webber, said it was the perfect time to enjoy a long weekend in Mackay.

“With Australia Day bringing some great entertainment to the region, it’s the perfect time to take a few days to enjoy the sunshine, the beach, the hinterland and the fantastic attractions that we have to offer before we get back into the swing of things.”
