Red Dog Riverfront is perched on Bluewater Quay overlooking the Pioneer River. Red Dog Riverfront is the waterfront home of Mackay's own independent craft brewery. It opened in 2023 in the heart of the city's revitalised riverfront and has become a go-to spot for locals and visitors who want to unwind with a cold beer and a view.

Every Red Dog beer is brewed right here in Mackay by a team of local mates who set out to give the region something more flavourful than the usual lager. The line-up draws on brewing traditions from Europe, the UK, America and the Pacific, from a crisp pale ale to a citrusy Irish-style red. Not sure where to start? Grab a tasting paddle and work your way through.

The kitchen serves a relaxed tapas menu built for sharing, best enjoyed alfresco as the afternoon cools off by the water. Non-beer drinkers are well looked after too, with plenty more on offer behind the bar.

The Bluewater Quay boardwalk, playground and picnic areas are right on the doorstep, so it's an easy pick for after-work drinks, a long weekend lunch or a catch-up with friends. Walk-ins are welcome, and bookings are available too.
