Overview

Description

Those who seek diverse landscapes and natural adventure will adore the rugged coastline of Cape Hillsborough National Park. Lush and fertile rainforest meets rocky headlands and the golden sand of the coastline.

The Yuibera Yuwi Trail is located within Cape Hillsborough National Park, a 50 kilometre drive from Mackay's Central Business District. A visit can easily be achieved in a day trip, otherwise accommodation options within the park are available.

To reach the Yuibera Yuwi Trail, turn off Risley Parade onto Hidden Valley Road, a gravel road located near the picnic area beside the nature resort. This road is not suitable for large vehicles, such as caravans. Drive or walk 1.2 kilometres to the start of the trail. The Yuibera Yuwi Trail is 1.2 kilometres return in length and is an easy walking gradient. The self-guiding trail will usually take under 40 minutes to complete, allowing time to admire the array of contrasting flora.

The trail tells the story of the Yuibera Aboriginal people who were the original inhabitants of the area, and how they utilised the native plants in their way of life. Keep an eye out for bush turkeys, Kookaburras, butterflies and wallabies who thrive among the bush.
